Gartner anticipates the 12 strategic technologies for 2022


Punctual as every year-end, Gartner's forecasts on innovative technologies for the next 3-5 years arrive, interesting anticipations for all companies that want to innovate.

The 12 strategic technologies will become an integral part of the roadmap of companies starting in 2022, strengthening the link between business and IT.

The 12 2022 trends continue along the direction already taken in 2021. Analytics and AI, cloud, automation, infrastructure and application modernization, the role of trust, security and immersive experiences remain at the forefront.

Emanuela Teruzzi of Inno3 gives us a clear overview of the 12 strategic technologies identified by Gartner for 2022. 

1Data Fabric, technology that ensures data integration across different platforms and users, making data available wherever it is needed, regardless of where it resides, well managed by analytics. This technology could reduce data management efforts by 70% bringing benefit to the business. 

2Cybersecurity Mesh, flexible, composable architecture that integrates distributed security services, a true security network that secures the enterprise and allows different stand-alone solutions to work together to optimize overall security, all the way to the endpoints. It also ensures a single approach to security in terms of compliance with cloud and non-cloud regulations and policies.

3Privacy-Enhancing Computation or rather the computational capacity put at the service of data privacy that can ensure the safe processing of personal data. This is an increasingly critical issue related to data and personal protection laws and growing consumer concerns about inappropriate use of data. Techniques for extracting value from data are varied, while meeting compliance requirements.

4Cloud-Native Platform or cloud-native platforms that, because they are cloud-born, are elastic enough to respond to the rapid changes desired by CEOs and executives. According to Gartner, cloud-native platforms improve on the traditional lift-and-shift approach to the cloud, which doesn't take full advantage of the cloud and adds complexity to its management. 

5 – Composable Application, modular and composable applications that simplify the code, and drive its reuse, so you can quickly develop enterprise software that accelerates your company's time to market. 

6 – Decision Intelligence, the use of decision-making intelligence that leads to improved organizational processes. And a practical intelligence, which models each decision as a set of processes, using analytic to make the correct decisions. Decision intelligence can support and improve human decision making, making it partly automated as well, through AI, simulations, analytics.

7 – Hyperautomation, because automation enables as many business and IT processes as possible to be rapidly identified, controlled and automated in a disciplined manner. It enables scalability, remote operations management, and radical business model change.

8 – AI Engineering, an approach that automates data, model, and application updates, simplifies AI deployment, managed with strong governance. It allows AI to be applied to business in an automated way. 

9Distributed Enterprise, distributed companies that rely on a business model focused on digital, remote working to improve employee experiences, and new relationships with partners and consumers. This approach leads to the definition of hybrid work environments and virtual spaces for customers. 

10Total Experience, because it is companies that define a business strategy that aims to improve the overall experience of employees, customers and users by interweaving multiple experiences and relationships (creating a multi-experience) can accelerate growth. The total experience can increase trust, satisfaction, loyalty and protection for customers and employees. 

11 – Autonomic Systems, software-driven autonomous systems that learn from their environments and dynamically modify their algorithms in real time to optimize their behavior in complex ecosystems. Autonomous systems create an agile set of technology capabilities that can support new requirements and situations, optimize performance, and defend against attacks without human intervention.

12Generative AI, a self-generating, self-forming intelligence that learns from data and generates digital twins similar to the original but with differentiated elements that can accelerate development in certain fields. From medicine to the creation of new products.
